About Me
Dr Praveen Chanappa is a highly skilled family medicine consultant with over 20 years of experience in both national and international healthcare settings. He completed his MBBS from Bangalore University in 2000 and went on to pass the PLAB exam in the UK. He began his career as a medical resident at the FIFE Acute Hospitals NHS Trust UK, where he obtained training in various medical specialties, including acute medicine, endocrinology, cardiology, pulmonology, and gastroenterology.
Dr Praveen completed his Family Medicine Training Program at FIFE, NHS UK, in 2006 and obtained his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) and MRCGP from the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) from NHS UK. He also undertook a specialized Diabetes course at Warwick University, enhancing his expertise in diabetes management.
From 2006 onwards, Dr Praveen practiced as a family physician across several locations of NHS Midlands UK which includes Birmingham, Coventry, and Rugby. He also served as a Family Physician at urgent care facilities/ out-of-hours services as part of Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust UK. He also has been a trainer and mentor of Family Medicine training programme and to medical students from Warwick University UK.
In 2018, Dr Praveen moved to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where he served as a Consultant in Family Medicine with the Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs in Al Ahsa. Here, he managed the Employee Health and Family Medicine Clinics and also contributed to the Family Medicine Training Program as a trainer. In 2023, he returned to India, working as a Family Medicine Consultant at Pathway Hospitals in Bangalore, where he oversaw inpatient and outpatient care, including chronic disease management.
Before relocating to the UAE, Dr Praveen took on a unique role as a remote family medical physician locum for St. Helena Government, providing ambulatory care, chronic disease management, and outpatient services to one of the world’s most remote island territories, part of the British Overseas Territory.
