Introduction

Cervical cancer is the 3 most common cancer affecting the women worldwide and it is one among those few cancers that can be screened even before the cancer has develop (Precancerous stage). Hence it can provide almost 100% cure if detected and treated at the precancerous stage.

Causes
The most common almost 99% cause factor for the cervical cancer are 13 high risk Human Papilloma Virus(HPV) namely 16,18 (cos 70% of cancer/ precancerous lesions)

Risk Factors

  • Early first sexual intercourse
  • Multiple sexual partners
  • Use of tobacco

Symptoms

  • Irregular, Intermenstrual
  • Abnormal vaginal bleeding after sexual intercourse

Screening

  •                 Conventional (PAP) test and liquid based cytology (LBC)
  • According to UK National Health Service (NSC screening committee)
